The Maid of Honor is single, a Matron of Honor is married by at least 18 years of age, which is the age required to sign a legal document.  

• Usually in charge of arranging the bridal shower – also pays for a portion of the shower split with the other bridesmaids  
• Attends pre-wedding showers and serves as hostess to bridal shower – keeping record of gifts
• Responsible for her own gown, accessories, and travel arrangements  
• Helps bride select bridesmaids’ dresses (if asked), and addressing envelopes
• Attends rehearsal and dinner  
• Coordinates bridesmaids’ fittings  
• Acts as an official witness / signing wedding certificate

• Assists bridesmaids on wedding day
• Assists the bride in dressing before the ceremony
• Holds the groom’s ring for the ceremony  
• Holds the bride’s bouquet during the ceremony
• Keeps the bride’s train spread out & in order when called for –especially before recessional!
• May offer a toast at the reception
• Keeps track of the bride’s belongings during ceremony & reception
• Assists the bride if needed when changing into her going-away outfit

Best Man  

• The Best Man must be at least 18 years of age to sign a legal document
• Usually in charge of arranging the bachelor party
• Responsible his own tuxedo, shoes, and travel arrangements
• Acts as an official witness / signing wedding certificate  
• Makes sure the groom arrives on time to the church
• Assists the ushers in getting ready
• Holds the bride’s ring
• Pays officiant’s fee, and  other remaining balances due on wedding day
• Gives a toast at the reception to the bride & groom
• Assists the groom in any other way needed

Bridesmaids  

• Attends pre-wedding showers, rehearsal and dinner – also pays for a portion of the shower split with the other bridesmaids
• Responsible for her own gown, accessories, and travel arrangements
• Assists bride with wedding activities
